What is melasma?
Melasma is a condition which is characterized by hyperpigmented patches with irregular outlines commonly occurring on the face which is more prevalent in young females. It is exacerbated by sun exposure, pregnancy and hormones like use of OCP.
How does laser treatment help with melasma and pigmentation?
laser uses the technology of selective photo thermolysis in which the laser targets the selected chromophore in the skin which include melanin and dermal hemoglobin does help in improving pigmentation and uneven skin tone.

What types of lasers are used?
No single laser can achieve complete photo rejuvenation hence combination of lasers is used which includes you CO2 laser and Q switch laser.
How many sessions are needed?
Most patients will need multiple sessions usually approx. 4 -6, depending on their current skin condition and their goals.
Is the treatment painful?
Numbing creams are used before the treatment making it comfortable for the patient to undergo the treatment.
What can I expect after treatment?
You might experience mild redness or peeling after the procedure which usually subsides within a few days. You need to strictly follow post procedure instructions as advised by your doctor.
How long do the results from the procedure last?
The length of time the results last varies, depending on how well you take care of your skin and how you follow any post-procedure instructions. Periodically, you may need to have a few maintenance procedures done.
